Kennedy's 6 Month Stats

Yesterday was a trying day. Kennedy was pretty upset from the beginning and I wasn't sure exactly what it was but had a pretty good idea, it was either teething or she was upset from the new addition of bananas to her diet. Well, it turns out that it was mostly likely the bananas. Kennedy wouldn't eat and just cried. This was the first time I have ever just put her in her car seat to drive around and get her to fall asleep. Then, in the afternoon Kennedy had her 6 month well child visit, which she was pretty jovial for. Her stats are: 18lbs 4.5oz (86th percentile) 27 1/4in (93rd percentile) and her head is 33rd percentile. The doctor said she is above average for her skills at this age and is a healthy little girl, which we are thrilled about! This was then followed by 3 shots and she did not like those one bit! The evening ended with her spiking a fever from the shots and being super upset, having to be held/rocked and if you even moved a muscle she would begin freaking out again. It was so sad :( We gave her some watered down prune juice, which she sucked down without a fight, and that seems to have helped the constipation a bit. Poor thing! She is still not quite herself, but we are getting there.

Kennedy's 6 Month Portraits & Updates on the Girls

Brian and I played around with our photo equipment and took Kennedy's 6 month portraits. We haven't decided which one we are going to use yet, but here they are.

Kennedy is getting really close to crawling. She gets up on all 4s and tried really hard, but doesn't go anywhere quite yet. She is really liking eating her rice cereal, we are going to do bananas this week, I just have to find some organic bananas to mash for her to eat. Kennedy has her 6 month well child visit on Tuesday, so I will update you all with her stats.

Addison is learning her alphabet right now and she is doing really well. So far she has A-H down and we are doing a few letters each week. She really has fun playing the "ABC game" as she calls it. Addison sure is growing up these days! She has lots of fun playing with her sister.

Kennedy Eats Her 1st Food

Today is 2 days shy of Kennedy turning 6 months. I like to wait until my kids are 6 months to feed them their first food, but I opted to start 2 days early so that I could do it on the weekend. Kennedy ate organic multi grain rice cereal and she seem to like it well enough. She pushed some out with her tongue, but that was to be expected, as she hasn't eaten anything before. We will keep you updated on Kennedy's endeavors with her new foods!

Let's Fly a Kite

Brian and Addison had so much fun flying a kite at a soccer field near our house a few weekends ago. Kennedy and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie with my mom and sister but joined them after the movie to take some pictures. It was great!

From the Ocean to the Mountains

This past weekend was pretty hot in the Portland Metro Area, so we took a few day trips to beat the heat. Saturday we packed up and met our friend Jeff and his daughter Hazel and traveled to the Oregon Coast. We stopped in Seaside to check out their kite shop and opted to go to Cannon Beach and try our luck there. At Cannon Beach we bought a cool kite for Addison to fly at the beach. However, to our dismay there was hardly any wind and we just couldn't keep the kite up. It was SO packed at the beach and it was also cloudy, but it was still a nice escape. We just sat on the sand and played.

Sunday we went to Multnomah Falls before the big crowd hit and took some photos of the falls. We considered taking the Historic Columbia River Highway back and stopping by Crown Point, but we decided there was little parking and it would probably be too difficult to stop. So, we went back to Gresham and took Highway 26 up to Timberline Lodge. It was about 10 degrees cooler up there, but still pretty hot. We got some great pics and Brian did an awesome set of shots that he put together on Photoshop to make a panorama, but it is too big of a file to post :(

We sure enjoyed out weekend and are glad to be back in the great state of Oregon, where we have now been back for 1 year!

Burleigh Stahl Campout at Beverly Beach

The weekend following the 4th of July we went to Beverly Beach, on the Oregon Coast, to enjoy a weekend of tent camping. The weather looked like it was going to be beautiful in Portland, so we hoped it would carry over to the coast...but little did we know, we were going to be in for a few sprinkles. We ended up having a pretty good time despite the little hangups with the weather.

Happy 4th of July!!!

We had the family over for a BBQ for the 4th of July and had a nice time. My dad provided some of his yummy grass fed beef and the rest of us brought the side dishes. We had a fun time playing in the yard and chatting. The night ended with our friends Mat and Shannon coming over and Brian and Mat put on a great show of fireworks that they got from Washington. All in all it was a good night!
