Baby Tag
I thought this would be fun! I am filling it out for my pregnancy with Addison and will do another one when Miss Kennedy arrives :)
1.Where were you when you first found out that you were pregnant? At home. I took a test 3/12/06 so that I would know before I went in to have my epidural steroid injection for my back....needless to say I canceled that appointment (luckily I didn't really need it, the first 2 did wonders!).
2.Who was with you? Brian
3.How did you find out that you were pregnant? The usual urine test
4.What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? Excited!
5.Who was the first person you told? Brian of course!
6.Did you plan to get pregnant? Yes
7.Did you tell everyone else right away? Pretty much within the first few weeks of finding out.
8.Was everybody happy for you? Yes....at least I think so!
9.Did you go out and celebrate? Not that I recall.
10.Did you want to find out the sex? Yes.
11.What was the sex? A girl!
12.Did anyone throw you a baby shower? Yes
13.Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew that you wouldn't put on your baby? Well, I wasn't too crazy about the neutral stuff....we found out what we were having for a reason!
14.How much weight did you gain? 60 lbs
15.Did you lose all of the weight that you gained? No, but I honestly didn't try that hard :(
16.Did you get any stretch marks? Yes, but only a few.
17.What did you crave the most? I really didn't crave anything particular.
18.Did you crave anything crazy? Nope
19.Who or what got on your nerves? I just got tired of people always bugging me at the end to see if I had the baby, or people keep guessing when she was going to come.
20.Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Just problems with my back....especially since we got rear ended when I was 14 weeks along.
21.Where and when did you go into labor? I was induced, so it happened at the hospital.
22.Did your water break? It broke on it's own in the hospital.
23.Who drove you to the hospital? My mom did cause I had to be there at midnight and Brian was already at work (at the hospital) so he was there waiting when he got off at 11:30PM.
24.Who was in the room when you gave birth? Brian
25.Did you go early or late? 2 days early
26.How long were in labor for? Well, I went in at midnight on 12/12 and they didn't want to break my water until I was 4cm....she when I stayed at 3 1/2cm they decided they would send me home and try again. I refused to go home, so they tried the induction again and Miss Addison arrived after 2pm on 12/14.
27.Did you have any drugs for the pain? Oh yeah, my epidural worked great!
28.Did you go natural or have a C-section? Natural
29.What was your first reaction after giving birth? Wow, she is really here!
30.How big was the baby? 8lbs 14oz 21 3/4in
31.Did your husband cry? I think he got a little teary eyed.
32.What did you name the baby? Addison
33.Does her name have any significant meaning? Nope, just a name we both agreed on.
34.Did you have any visitors? A few, we really didn't want a lot of people to visit at the hospital.
35.Did the baby have any complications? She had jaundice, so she had to spend the night under the bili lights and we had to go in to have her bili levels checked daily for the first week she was home.
36.How old is your baby today? 2 years and 1 month
37.When is the next one coming? Any day now!
38.If you could, would you do it all over again? Um....yeah, I am!

Hilarious Work/Preggo Story!!!
I am at work today and had the most hilarious unplanned thing happen and I couldn't have planned it any better!
I have not been scheduled to work in rooms for the past 2 weeks or so, as everyone is afraid that I will go into labor in the middle of a surgery. Therefore, I have been assigned to do "turnovers", which means I go in the room and wipe down all of the dirty surfaces and help open for the next case. Today I went in Room 1 to help turnover the room for the next case, nothing out of the ordinary. Well, we use these wet wipes that are in containers like the lysol wipes that you buy at the store. I was at the last of the roll and was trying to pull the last few out and more than one was trying to come through the hole at the same time, so the top popped off and all of the excess fluid (which is about 1/2 cup to 1 cup) splashed all over the floor. Of course I responsed "oh crap!" and at the same time everyone (including the surgeon, resident, medical student, circulating nurse, scrub tech, nurse anesthetist and all of the other helpers in the room) turned around when they heard the splashing sound and looked at me with terrified faces! I thought to myself, "why are they looking at me like this?!" and quickly realized they all thought my water broke right there in the middle of the O.R. with the patient still sleep on the table. I quickly blurted out "oh no, that wasn't my water that broke!" and relief washed over everyones faces. It was so funny! I can't believe I didn't think to do this weeks ago, now I am considering going around and doing it in all the rooms :) But then when it really happens no one would run to my rescue!

We Have a Date
I went to my appointment with my midwife, Sarah, yesterday and things are progressing nicely. I am 3cm dilated and just waiting for Miss Kennedy to decide she would like to join us on the outside. However, I don't blame her for wanting to stay put, especially as I am watching the snow falling out the window this morning. Although we would like Kennedy to pick her own arrival date, we are going to help her along in the event that she decides to stick this one out. Which means we have set the date for induction to be noon next Tuesday, 2/3/09.
We selected 2/3 to be the day, since my midwife is on call that night, and it would really be nice if she were the one there to deliver Kennedy, as she delivered Addison and did a fabulous job! Also, I think that 2/3/09 is kind of neat, as Brian's birthday is the opposite 3/2! I have been especially pleased with Sarah as my midwife, she has been willing to fitting me into her schedule when it is convenient for me, even if she is all booked up (although I have not needed to take her up on that offer). Not to mention, this week she gave me her home and cell phone numbers to call her in the event that I do go into labor when she is not on call and although I initially declined, she insisted on me calling her and she will come in if she is not preoccupied. Oh, and last but not least, she is also a lefty like Brian and I, which is so funny, because Brian and I always seem to meet the other leftys of the world :)
I am still working and will do so through Friday this week, as I already have next Monday off and well, there is no reason for me to go in and work a few hours on Tuesday before the induction. Now, we are just anxiously awaiting Kennedy's arrival. Wish us luck!

Passing Time
Well, as you all probably have guessed, I have yet to have baby Kennedy :( I am sure getting tired of this hurry up and wait business, but I am trying to enjoy the time that I have left with Addison as my only child. We had my baby shower at work on Tuesday and got lots of fun baby clothes and some much needed baby items. Addison joined me and she was such a good little girl, everyone was impressed with how polite and well behaved she was. That's my girl! I still have a few things I need to be totally ready for Kennedy's arrival, but nothing pressing. I have some organizing I would like to do in the kitchen, since we have the new addition of bottles, bottle warmer, bottle sterilizer, etc that will be invading the kitchen soon. I guess I have some organizing on my agenda this weekend, and as for those of you who know me, I actually enjoy organizing, so this task shouldn't be too tedious for me.
I am still working and plan to continue until the end. So far it has been going pretty well. I am lucky to work for a great manager and have great coworkers who are always willing to help me out and make sure I am okay, so that is a huge help! However, every day I do hope that it will be my last day returning to work in the hopes of Kennedy's arrival. No luck yet though!
I finally got my thank you notes done for our Christmas gifts, they are a little belated, but I am happy to have done them later rather than not at all. I have also completed all of my thank you notes for all of the baby gifts that we have received up to this point. Last night I made my Valentine's cards and had a great time doing it! I sure have been having fun stamping again and am looking forward to new projects, however my project time will be limited very soon, so I better get it out of my system while I can. I am also working on getting fabric to make a baby blanket for my newphew who is to be born 5/2009....yes, my sister is having a baby boy! Not to mention I am getting things all planned out to make her baby shower invites and get all of the details in order for her upcoming event. Lots of fun things coming up!

37 Week Checkup
I had my 37 week checkup appt with my midwife this morning, which I had been looking forward to since I haven't had an appt since before Thanksgiving due to weather related cancellations. Well, at my appt today I found out that I was 1.5cm dilated, the baby is head down and things could happen anytime or it could still be a matter of weeks. I am voting for anytime now :) We will see what happens, but knowing me, I will have to be induced, which we set 2/8 as the date to be induced if I am still preggo by that time. Keep your fingers crossed that I won't have to be induced! So, I got my bag all packed and the infant carseat in the car so that we are all ready in the event that we do end up going into labor. I am ready anytime and just hope I don't go past 2/2.

Potty Training...A Success!
It is so funny the things you get excited about when you become a parent. For me my big excitement right now is Addison's success in potty training. It is such a huge milestone in a toddler's life and such a relief for the parent...especially when you are facing the possibility of changing 2 sets of diapers. Potty training truly is something that you cannot force your child to do, but something they will let you know when they are ready and willing to use the potty. For the parent your job is to watch for the signs, acknowledge and act when you notice they are ready, and lastly to decide the best method to excite and motivate them to move on to the next step.
Addison has been potty training on and off for the past year, but most actively in the past 6 months. At the beginning we were mainly trying to get Addison used to seeing the potty and understanding what it was for. With all of our moving around, we decided that although she was ready to use the potty, we had too much going and and couldn't fully commit to potty training full time. Once we got settled we started putting Addison on the potty every hour and would praise her (NOT with candy) when she actually went in the potty. As she progressed to going in the potty all of the time (well going number 1) when she was running around the house without a diaper or underwear on, we decided it was time to take the next step which has been more challenging. It was time to put underwear or a diaper on Addison, instead of letting her run around naked, and get her to tell us she needed to go potty before she went rather than after. Today has been a huge success! Addison has notified me 3 times before going potty in her diaper and has used the potty every time. Her diaper remains dry!
It is so cute, Addison gets all excited when she uses the potty. The only motivation she needs is clapping and being told that she is doing a good job. She gets a huge smile on her face and says "thank you"! Now, the next steps are getting Addison to let us know that she needs to use the potty when we are in public and to work on staying dry through the night. Wish me luck!

Getting Ready for Baby
This weekend we really started getting ready for our new addition. Wow, so many little things to do that I had forgotten about. Brian went to storage and got out most of the stuff that we need, with the exception of a few esential items, like the cosleeper, bath tub (which I can't remember if we kept or not), bouncer, the box of my favorite newborn clothes, and all of our baby blankets. So I guess that means another trip to storage is in order. Easier said than done. Unfortunately some large furniture needs to be moved in order to get into our storage unit (I wouldn't know...I haven't even seen our storgae!) so that means that Brian has to bring a helper with him when he goes. What a pain! I am hoping that we can get that done this coming weekend.
However, we did uncover the stroller, carseat & bases, and 2 boxes of clothes. I sifted through the clothes and retired a few items and washed the rest of them. It turns out we have a ton of 3-6 month clothes and not so much 0-3 or newborn (except for tons of sleepers!) which I suspect are in the missing box somewhere in storage along with all of the swaddling blankets.
I am finding little things here and there that I still need, but nothing major. I got the cloth diaper covers last week and the cloth diapers should arrive this Wednesday. I am still needing the diaper can liner and a travel wet bag to put the dirty diapers in when we go on outing and to daycare. I need the bottles for my breastpump, along with the milk storage bags, a new pump kit, and bottle sterilizer. other than that, I think we need a few clothing items that I can think of. So, I would say we are at least 50% ready and should be nearly 100% after this weekend.
As for myself...I started packing my bag for the big day, but am not completely ready. I need a pair of pajamas to take with me to the hospital and just need to throw my toiletries in my bag when it's time. The baby has dropped and I am getting more and more uncomfortable. I go back to my midwife a week from today, so I should find out if anything is happening. I am hoping to hold out until 1/21 so that I will have my partially paid leave benefits active...not to mention, it would be nice to have this one born under Obama rather than Bush. But, as you and I both know, the baby will come on her own terms.
Will let keep you posted on any updates as they develop.

I finally completed them a bit late, but I am pleased with how well they turned out. Well, our New Year's Eve was pretty uneventful. I only worked a half a day, so I was able to spend the rest of the day with Addison while Brian went to work. Addison and I ran errands, which really means that Addison didn't get a nap! Addison and I made dinner, played, and watched some "toon toons". Being that Addison didn't get a nap she was pretty cranky and ended up going to bed at 8:30PM after she threw a bit of a tantrum. So, I got some "me" time, which allowed me to drift off to sleep on the couch waiting for Brian to get off work. Brian got home by 11:45PM, just in time to ring in the new year. I stayed up until 1AM before retiring to bed.
We spent New Year's Day cleaning the house and getting ready for our visit with my friend Jenapher, who is visiting from Illinois and her boys Mason and Morgan. Jenapher and I had a nice visit while Brian kept an eye on Addison and Mason who are both going through the "mine" stage. However, Addison and Mason finally were able to really play together just in time for the visit to end. All in all, it was a nice day.
